The Mary D. Allen
(MDA) Laboratories for Vision Research were established to examine the
biochemical, cellular and molecular biology of inherited forms of
blindness, including macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa.
Dr. Cheryl M.
Craft and her research group investigate the delicate balance of the
photoreceptor in health and disease and light/dark gene regulation of
the circadian oscillator in retinal function. The major research
program focuses on the down regulation of the G-protein signal
transduction pathway in the retina and pineal gland and has several
major ongoing projects.
